Stop Taxing Us is a political activist group dedicated to holding our government accountable to the people. We
believe fiscal responsibility, limited government and free-markets are
the foundation of a healthy economy and that over-taxation threatens to
erode our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
History
In 2007, Stop Taxing Us started as a true community-based, grass roots movement in North San Diego County. When a local hospital tried to use a mail-only ballot to garnish support for a hospital bond, which failed twice in the general election format, many community members felt that the democratic process was under attack. Stop Taxing Us was born from this event. Within a few weeks, the handful of initial supporters swelled to over 800 sympathizers and volunteers. The hospital bond was defeated with a margin even greater than the two previous elections.
Today, Stop Taxing Us has a large follwing of of supporters. We aim to keep people informed via a network of electronic media including our website, Facebook, Twitter, the STU blog, monthly newsletter, STU Video News and much more. All of this outreach is maintained by a strong leadership team, and a dedicated group volunteers.
